Write your first script
- Open Cuely and tap New Script. Type your script or paste one in.
- The title fills in from the first few words; change it if you like. Scripts save on their own and stay on your device.
- Tap Record to open the prompter with that script.
Read while you record
The prompter fills the screen with a live camera and scrolls your script over it. Pick the front or back camera, set a countdown if you want a moment to get ready, and tap the record button. A focus band marks the line to read so you can keep your eyes on the lens. Tap stop when you're done and the take opens for review.
Set the pace
Use the side controls to change scroll speed and text size while you read, so the words move at the speed you actually talk. Your defaults live in Settings and seed every new recording, so you set them once.
Mirror for a glass rig
Turn on Mirror to flip the script left to right for a beam-splitter teleprompter. Leave it off to use Cuely on its own, handheld or on a small tripod. Either way, the mirroring only changes what you read; it never affects the recorded video.
Save and share your video
After you stop, play the take back. Save it to Photos, Share it, or tap Retake to record again. On the free tier the saved video carries a small corner watermark; the one-time purchase removes it. The purchase ask never appears while you are recording.
Free and the one-time purchase
Cuely is free to record, save scripts, and export, with a small watermark on saved videos. A one-time $9.99 purchase, Remove Watermark, takes the watermark off for good. There is no subscription, ever. If you reinstall or move to a new phone, tap Restore Purchases on the paywall or in Settings while signed in to the same Apple ID.
Questions
Does my script show up in the video?
No. The scrolling script is only on your screen while you record. Cuely saves the clean camera feed, so the video is just you and whatever the camera is pointed at.
How do I remove the watermark?
The free tier puts a small watermark in the corner of saved videos. A one-time $9.99 purchase, Remove Watermark, takes it off for good, with no subscription.
I paid, but the watermark is still there.
Tap Restore Purchases on the paywall or in Settings while signed in to the same Apple ID you bought it with, and the purchase activates on that device.
Can I use Cuely with teleprompter glass?
Yes. Turn on Mirror to flip the text for a beam-splitter rig. You can also use Cuely on its own, handheld or on a tripod, with no extra hardware.
The camera won't start.
Cuely needs camera and microphone permission to record. If you turned it down, open iOS Settings, find Cuely, and switch Camera and Microphone on. If another app is holding the camera, close that app and try again.
Where are my scripts and videos stored?
On your iPhone. Scripts stay inside Cuely and the videos you save go to your Photos. Nothing is uploaded. See the privacy page for the details.
Does Cuely work without an internet connection?
Yes. Cuely is fully offline. It needs no account and makes no network calls except to handle the one-time purchase.
