Save your first quote
- Open Passage and tap the add button. Pick how you want to capture: speak, scan, paste, or type.
- Only the words are required. Save with the text alone and fill in the rest later if you want to.
- The quote lands in your library right away, newest first.
Speak the quote
Tap the microphone and read the line out loud while the book is still open. The words become text as you speak, and the recognition runs on your device. Passage asks for microphone and speech permission the first time you use it, not before. Stop when you're done, fix anything the recognition got wrong, and save.
Scan the page
Tap the camera and point it at the page. Passage finds the blocks of text and you tap the lines you want; tap again to unpick one. The picked lines are joined into a single quote, with hyphens at line ends repaired. Camera permission is asked for at the first scan.
Paste or type
Paste from any app and Passage separates the quote from its author and source on its own, then shows you what it worked out so you can correct it. Or tap type and write it yourself.
Keep the why
Every quote can carry the author, the source, the page, your labels, and a note about why it mattered or where you found it. All of it is optional. When you're working through one book, Passage keeps the source filled in for the next quote so you never retype it.
Find it again
Search every word you have saved, including the words in your notes. Filter by label, or browse by book, author, and film. The line from two summers ago is back in seconds.
The daily widget
Add the Passage widget to your home screen and it shows one of your saved quotes each day. Touch and hold the home screen, tap the add button, find Passage, and pick a size. The widget only ever shows quotes from your own library.
Free and the one-time purchase
Passage is free to download and your first 50 quotes are free, with every capture method included. A one-time $4.99 purchase, Passage Lifetime, removes the cap and adds CSV export. There is no subscription, ever. If you reinstall or move to a new device, tap Restore purchases in Settings while signed in to the same Apple ID.
Export your library
With Passage Lifetime, Export writes your whole library to a CSV file: the quote, author, source, page, labels, and note. Save it to Files or share it anywhere. It's a plain text file, so any spreadsheet app can open it.
Questions
Does Passage sync between my iPhone and iPad?
Not in this version. Your library lives on the device that saved it, and there is no iCloud sync yet. If you want the same quotes in both places, export a CSV from one device.
Is there a Mac version?
No. Passage runs on iPhone and iPad and needs iOS 26 or later.
Does the voice capture send my words to a server?
No. Speech recognition runs on your device, and so does the text recognition in the camera scan. See the privacy page for the details.

Tap those blocks again to unpick them before you save. Passage joins only the lines you leave selected.
Will Passage change the words inside a quote?
No. It strips boilerplate around the quote and repairs hyphens split across lines, and that is all. The words you saved stay exactly as you saved them.
I hit the 50-quote cap. What happens to what I was writing?
Nothing is lost. The quote you were capturing is held while the purchase screen is up, so you can buy and save it, or close the screen and come back to it.
I paid, but the cap is still there.
Tap Restore Purchases in Settings while signed in to the same Apple ID you bought it with, and the purchase activates on that device.
Does Passage work without an internet connection?
Yes. Passage is fully offline. It needs no account and makes no network calls except to handle the one-time purchase.
