Import a PDF
- Tap Import and pick any PDF from Files, iCloud Drive, or wherever it lives.
- To build a PDF from paper, tap Photo to PDF and pick photos. PagePrep turns each one into a page.
- If the PDF is password protected, enter the password once and PagePrep opens it.
Add writing margins
Open the Margin tool and set the top, bottom, left, or right margin, or pick Small, Medium, or Large. Choose This page or All pages and watch the preview update live. Margins add room around what's already on the page; they never move or rescale your text.
Insert blank or lined pages
In the Pages view, choose where to add a page and pick blank or lined. The new page is created at the exact size of the page next to it, so the document scrolls evenly. Lined pages are drawn as real lines rather than a flat image, so they stay crisp at any zoom.
Merge, split, and reorder
Add another PDF to join it onto the end. Select a range of pages and Split to pull them into a new file. In the Pages grid, hold and drag a page to move it, with a marker showing where it will land, and swipe to delete. A document always keeps at least one page.
Trim wasted margins
Open the Trim tool and use Auto-trim to crop oversized whitespace down to the content, or set the edges by hand. Trimming changes the visible page box without cutting into your text or images.
Export and the free trial
Tap Export to save the prepared PDF back to Files or share it anywhere. PagePrep edits page geometry only and never flattens the page to an image, so your text stays selectable and your links keep working. The first 6 exports are free. After that, a one-time $6.99 purchase removes the cap for good, with no subscription. If you reinstall or switch devices, tap Restore Purchases while signed in to the same Apple ID.
Questions
Will my text stay selectable after I edit?
Yes. PagePrep changes page size and order only, so the text layer, links, and highlights survive into the exported file. Open the result in Preview and you can still select and search the text.
Can I write directly inside PagePrep?
PagePrep preps the page; it doesn't ink on it. Save the prepared PDF and write on it free in Apple's Preview or Markup, or open it in GoodNotes, Notability, or forScore if that's your setup.
Why does an inserted page match the one next to it?
So the document stays even. A blank or lined page is created at the exact size of its neighbor, which keeps mixed-size PDFs scrolling cleanly instead of jumping between page sizes.
Does PagePrep ask for Photos or Files permission?
No. It uses the system pickers, which run outside the app and pass back only the items you choose, so PagePrep never sees your whole Files or Photos library. See the privacy page for the details.
I used my free exports. What now?
The one-time $6.99 purchase removes the export cap for good and adds nothing else to remember, since there is no subscription. Everything you have already prepped stays exactly as it is.
I paid, but the cap is still there.
Tap Restore Purchases while signed in to the same Apple ID you bought it with, and the purchase activates on that device.
Does PagePrep work without an internet connection?
Yes. PagePrep is fully offline. It needs no account and makes no network requests for your files; everything runs on your device.
